Not shy to portray the female form clad or naked, Mia Galo’s vibrant paintings capture the spirit of the independent woman.
Galo’s nymph-like women offer themselves as objects of desire, splayed suggestively across the canvas. They are literally primed for the role. Lush turquoises, burnt scarlet reds, ochres and creamy white pigments are mixed with found materials such as crushed bush lavender to form a rich impasto.
The blue undertones of the voluptuous limbs are evocative of marble carvings. Thighs, cleavage & cheekbones are buffed and waxed in anticipation. She entices the viewer through her delicious combinations of vibrant colour and plentiful layers of paint.
Mia has achieved a high profile in a short time and there is strong demand for her paintings following three sell-out shows in Sydney and Melbourne with Libby Edwards Galleries.
